Summer’s arrival in Arizona’s wine country kicks off with National Rosé Day on Saturday, June 14. Wineries in Sonoita and Elgin are set to celebrate the PINK DRINK with special pairings, discounts, live music, and more.
“Rosé wines are incredibly versatile and pair beautifully with summer dishes,” said Lori Reynolds, winemaker at Sonoita Vineyards. From pale pinks to deep salmon hues, the celebration will highlight the full spectrum of rosé styles. Rosé’s pink color comes from limited skin contact during fermentation, producing a drink that’s both refreshing and complex.
Rosé has ancient roots, dating back over 2,500 years. It was often created by diluting red wines with water, which not only provided hydration but also removed harmful bacteria—a practice once hailed as a life-saving way to stay healthy.
More than half of the wineries in the Sonoita-Elgin region will join the celebration, offering deals and special events.
