Updated: Jun 21

BISBEE, Ariz. (SVL)— Officers and firefighters responded to the Copper Queen Hotel on Howell Ave after a fire alarm was activated just after 1:00am Wednesday. Upon arrival, first responders found an individual with a severe puncture wound to the head.

Authorities also discovered a trail of blood leading away from the scene, stretching around Grassy Park and continuing along Main Street. Initial reports indicated the man may have been stabbed but that has not been confirmed. A business on Main Street had a front window broken out which may have caused the injury.

The unidentified victim was airlifted to a hospital in Tucson for advanced emergency treatment. His condition has not been disclosed. The area along Main Street was cordoned off for the investigation.

No further information has been released by law enforcement.
