Reward Offered in Mescal Arson Investigation

Updated: 6 days ago

MESCAL, Ariz. — Detectives with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Arson Unit are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a series of suspicious fires in the Mescal and J6 Ranch area. Authorities have announced that a reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.

Since January 2025, investigators have responded to approximately nine fires in the region, all of which are believed to have been intentionally set. The incidents span a period of more than six months, and the frequency and proximity of the fires to residential homes have escalated concerns among law enforcement and local residents.

The ongoing investigation has prompted deputies to ask Mescal and J6 Ranch residents to carefully review any home security or trail camera footage for suspicious activity. Investigators are especially interested in footage showing unfamiliar individuals, unknown vehicles, or unusual behavior in the vicinity of the fires.

Community assistance is seen as vital to the investigation’s progress. Detectives are asking anyone with relevant information or video footage to contact 9-1-1 or submit anonymous tips to 88-CRIME at www.88crime.org or by calling 520-882-7463.

Officials stress that even small details could help identify the suspect(s) and prevent future fires.
